Finding blogs that accept guest posts is by far the hardest part of the guest blogging process. Guest posting can be a great tool for new bloggers and website owners trying to find their footing, and for those looking to garner a few extra links for search engine optimization.
Guest posting as a great way to earn backlinks for your site, and benefit from the donor blogger’s direct traffic. Contributing to other blogs is a great way to get started out, but once you’ve got a few under your belt, you probably want to focus on your own blog a little more (unless you have time for both, then go for it!).
Most blogs don’t advertise whether they accept guest posts or not.
The other problem is, sometimes you can find guest posting opportunities, but there are strict guidelines that have to be followed. Take HubSpot’s Marketing section for example; no thanks guys.
In this post, I’m going to give you one quick and easy strategy that will allow you to find blogs that accept guest posts with ease.
In fact, the first time I tried this method, I found a promising opportunity within the first 2 minutes of looking – pretty sweet, huh?
Often bloggers will reach out to you and request a guest post. With this method, we’re going to grab the bull by the horns and dive right into figuring out how to find blogs that accept guest posts.
So, How Do You Find Blogs That Accept Guest Posts?
It’s really simple, and all you’re going to need is your trusty Twitter account.
Often, when bloggers write guest posts, or receive guest posts, they’ll tweet that they have done so.
Now, wouldn’t you say it’s probably easier to get a guest post with a blog that you already know is readily accepting posts? You bet your ass you would.
That’s where this strategy starts to feel painfully obvious.
All you need to do to find these guest posting unicorns, is to go to your Twitter search bar and type:
“YOUR KEYWORD” + guest post
or, replace “guest post” any of the following; guest author, write for us, guest article etc.
So for example, I might type “blogging” + guest post – which gives me this screen;
See it says the keywords we want in the posts there? That’s what we’re looking for.
So, I you can go to any of these blogs, audit them to make sure they’re a good fit and then reach out to ask for a guest post.
Make sure when you’re checking out blogs that they are relevant. For one, backlinks from irrelevant blogs won’t benefit you anywhere near as much as backlinks from relevant blogs. Secondly, their readers aren’t going to be interested in your health food recipes, if they usually blog about custom cars.
But, there can be some crossover.
For example, someone who blogs about yoga, might be interested in taking your health food related post. Someone who blogs about travelling may be interested in money saving and budgeting tips for travelers. Do you see what I’m getting at here?
So, the next natural step is to make contact.
the great thing about Twitter, is that you can reach out to people yourself with a direct message, but you could just as easily visit their website and find a contact form or email address.
And that’s all there is to it! Just a quick tip, and one that I originally found within this post at Backlinko (credit where credit is due – thanks Brian) check Backlinko out for other unconventional (and conventional) link building tips!
After you’ve secured your guest post placement, the next step is to produce the content! One of the biggest problems agency owners run into is consistently hiring writers. We recommend using a platform like Workello to remove the stress of hiring from the equation.
